Being a film major, I have been following the news on a lot of films recently. However, for the sake of this post Im going to focus on 2: The live action Ghost in the Shell and the perpetually stuck live action adaptation of Akira (which is being pronounced A-Keer-Ah as opposed to Ahk-eer-ah). GitS is badass and is superb cyberpunk and while the casting has people concerned, I think its a 50-50 shot. As for Akira, Im more worried than excited because Warner Brothers is handling distribution and if the wrong people involved and with constant disputes over budget preventing the film from seeing the green light, it would be way too easy to mess up (and if you dont believe me, look what happened with Avatar and Dragonball). Akira DOES NOT deserve that. But enough out of me. What are everyone elses thoughts on GitS and Akira entering the live action realms in the near future?
