Being a portrait painter, it has become a routine to stroll in the crowded streets like a predator, searching for new faces that could inspire me. The gold mines of such faces are the parks and streets in Jongno, the oldest area in Seoul, where you can easily spot real life wizards; grumpy old men with the most magnificent wrinkles and facial hair, clad in what looks likes those costumes from the movies on the Old Testament. The frustrating part, however, is that though I always try my best with the nicest manner I could summon to ask them to be my models, I would usually be chased away like a jackal by a buffalo. And thats the fun of being in this business.
