Being dedicated to animal rescue often brings disappointment but - TopicsExpress

Being dedicated to animal rescue often brings disappointment but more often it brings a strong sense of satisfaction and joy. Occasionally, it brings tremendous joy which I anticipate will be the case with Alexander. But, this is not about Alexander. This the wonderful story of Dexter, Richard, Sharon and Fluffy McFlufferson. If you dont know or recall, Dexter is the adorable gray and white kitten I fostered recently. He went to his forever home with Richard and Sharon about three weeks ago. They are devoted to him and he went to the kind of home and environment guardians dream of for their babies. Well, during one if their visits with Dexter, they happened to meet Fluffy McFlufferson who had just come to me with his other 5 siblings. The kittens were about 4 weeks old at the time. Something happened and they connected with Fluffy that day. I did not understand how deep that connection had formed. They took Dexter home, Fluffys litter was spit and went to two other fosters, I took in another litter, life went on. And then Richard called last week. Do you still have Fluffy he asked. I explained he was still in our program but not with me and I also explained in detail a situation that had occurred which prevented Fluffy from being available for adoption for another 4 weeks. He didnt care, Sharon and he were in love with that tiny black puff ball of a kitten that would fit in your hand they had met several weeks before. Could I get him back and foster him so they could visit and bond with him? Of course, I said yes. Today at 2:00 Fluffy was delivered back to me. Richard and Sharon were here to spend time with him by 4:00. I was concerned they would not still feel the same way - after all Fluffy was not 4 weeks now he is 11 weeks old. He does not look or act like that helpless little baby they fell for. Would it be the same? OMG, They were over the moon for him. This kitten has found his forever home. He will spend the next 4 weeks with me and they will visit regularly to form their bond. Then he will live a wonderful life with Dexter. They will be perfect together because they are only 3 weeks apart in age. So, a long story getting to the tremendous joy of having two of my foster babies; both abandoned kittens who would have died without our assistance, going to one amazing family. THAT MY FRIENDS IS WHY RESCUERS NEVER GIVE UP. The icing in the cake is Richard and Sharon have also become my friends and I will be able to enjoy the wonderful life of these kittens for many years to come. Here is a picture of Dexter with Richard and Sharon and two pictures of Fluffy McFlufferson, one at 4 weeks and one today. He is a beautiful long haired boy! Life is good.
