Being in the right place at the right time, in the right mind with the horse who knows and has the confidence to find the place. The place is always present. Even in difficult times, there a place in a moment where peace abides. From such a place harmony is never loss. It is a place of joy. This place is not frivolous neither is it mythological. Reality here is without story but it is not without mind or heart. One trains for this with the horse and does not sit in judgement of superiority or inferiority, such thoughts have no use when such joy arises. Sometimes children who play with horses are more apt to find this place of safety and some of us who rode as children spend our whole life trying to find this place that we may have only glimpsed again. The impulse to study the horse for many comes such precious experience. Sadly the education we get, too frequently closes the very door we wanted to open. Such education is poor dressage but good dressage opens just the right door. Certainly instruction can help but it is not through the facts that the door is opened again but by the spirit and heart. The crack in the door is the light of joy. Patient, persistent and disciplined the mind finds what is sacred through generosity. Find the lightness by finding the joy. Never will it be found in overpowering resistance. Resistance overpowered always returns and yet it does keep us busy and so some pass their life entertained by their own aggressions. The clarity of mind finds the time and has confidence in the place and so passes beyond all hesitation. The desire to share such joy with the horse brings one beyond instructors and experts to the threshold from which the magic can be found. Lightness is always the essence but the fabric of the experience itself in gentleness. Loving kindness knows how to hold what can never really be held. Why would one choose something else? Yet in a world that has lost its way, tin, ribbon, acclaim are the shadows whose reality is accepted when the blindfold hides the light. Open the eyes to the magic in front of you by finding joy with your horse.
