Being the press statement issued by national association of polytechnic students NAPS leadership after marathon meeting in Abuja over the ongoing asup strike. It is Imperative that the long over due lingering ASUP strike which clock 3months and 11days in addition to the first 1month warning strike and 3month suspended strike which accumulated to 7months and 12days that Nigerian polytechnic student have been kept outside their class rooms and systematically delayed the carrier and destiny of the Nigerian future. With the neglect and lack of consideration the FG and ASUP using as negotiation tools to achieve their personal goals. After critical observation of ASUP demands as identified that the only major issues out of 13 demands of ASUP that has direct benefit on student carrier and academic standard had been drop aside not as priority any longer which is HND certificate disparity while the list of the demands had been narrowed down to four4 as listed below with statutory. 1. Need assessment committee for public federal Polytechnics and colleges of education- fully address 2. Governing council for all federal Polytechnics in Nigeria - fully addressed 3. Release of white paper of visitation panel to federal Polytechnics - not fully addressed 4. iPPS / financial backing for CONTIS 15 migration accumulated to 20.4b naira - not fully addressed The leadership of naps in a quest for the re-opening of all Polytechnics and colleges of education by all means under the confines of the law, had engaged and ales re engaged national board for technical education (NBTE), COHEAD, FEderal ministry of education yesterday in a marathon meeting, as the stand of FG and ASUP are observered conflicting each other when the federal government claims it has attended to the ASUP demand 90 percent while ASUP and accused neglect from the part of FG .
