Below are some basic guidelines on care and maintenance for general indoor potted plant or house plant that you should know. 1) LIGHTING Before choosing your plants you should know the plant type first; that is whether the plant is a - DIRECT SUNLIGHT, - SEMI SHADED or - SHADED PLANTS There are few things that you should observe from your plants: A) NOT ENOUGH LIGHT FOR THE PLANTS i). Leaves turns yellow(especially the lower leaves) and later falls off. ii). New leaves are smaller that the existing leave iii). Slow growth or no growth at all iv). New shoot grow and bent reaching towards the light v). Plants grow very thing with less leaves vi). Change in leaf colors example from variegated or colored leaved turn to green leaves B) TOO MUCH LIGHT FOR THE PLANTS i) Leaves turns faded and washed out ii) Plants wilts iii) Leaves become dry and fall off iv) Brown patches grow on leaves 2) WATERING OR MOISTURE In general indoor potted plant or house plant need watering about once a week, but actually plant should be watered as and when needed. Watering TIPS: Frequently check the soil moisture by placing your finger on the soil, dont water the plan if the soil feel damp, water the plan only when the soil feel dry. When watering be sure that the soil is saturated, not to over water or under water your plants. A good way to tell is when water begins draining out to the bottom of the container.
