Children of Levin Ainsworth and Unknown Ainsworth were: (A 1) ( 1) (1) Thomas Ainsworth, born in 1775. (A 1) ( 1) (1) THOMAS P. AINSWORTH / HAINSWORTH Born about 1775 to 1777, in NC or SC. Died in 1870, in Smith County, Mississippi. Married Sarah Finch. She was born about 1790 and died before 1850, in Smith County, Mississippi. Thomas Hainsworth was believed to have been born around 1777 in either NC or SC. He first shows up in the 1810 Census living with his wife, Sarah Finch, and their children in the Spartanburg District of SC. He fought in the War of 1812. In 1815, he paid a poll tax in Wayne Co., MS. In 1830, he and his family were living in Washington Co., AL near Levin Hainsworth and his children. By the 1840 Census, he had moved his family to Smith Co., MS where he remained until his death. His family dropped the H from their name after moving to MS. There were several distinct Levins all alive at the same time. Considering that it was common practice at the time to name a son after your brother. It is possible that each of William and Jennets three sons, William, Levin, and James Patterson, might have had a son named Levin Ainsworth. In 1790, we know that there was a Levin and a Levin Jr. living in the Chesterfield District of SC. Levin Jr. moved his family to Christian Co., KY about 1808 (At the time the boundary of this part of KY was not firmly established and many records are listed as Christian Co., TN.) He died there abt. 1816. Five of his sons moved to MS and later his son, Levin A. moved from MS to Trinity Co., TX. In 1799, a Levin Hainsworth (believed to be a brother of Thomas), moved to Washington Co., AL where he remained until his death abt 1833. He named a son Levin Hainsworth Jr. By 1830, there is another Levin Ainsworth who showed up living with the Butler Co., AL group of Ainsworths. He seems to have later moved his family to Escambia Co., Florida. (The IHA history says Isaiah was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, although no other proof has turned up) The Greensboro, NC possibility is interesting. Levin Sr. sold the last of his property that we know of in NC in 1767. William Ainsworth was in Moore Co., NC as late as 1788 according to land transactions. James Pattersons family was in Burke Co., NC at least through 1820. It is possible that a son of William or James Patterson might have gone to Greensboro during that time period, yet I have seen other sources that identify his birthplace as SC. Thomas Ainsworth is shown on the 1850 Census living in the Sampson Jefferson Ainsworth home. Was Thomas P. Ainsworth and Joseph Ainsworth the same Person? Records show they have the same children!!
