Below you can read a snippet from the local news, in New Orleans. I met Troy 8 years ago. We bonded instantly; common ground---we both wanted to be Firefighters since we were little boys. Troy would always tell me...I wanna be just like you... I told him, Be better than me!...and he was. He and I shared a love of the Fire Service and Freemasonry. I was so proud of him, in both his chosen careers. Troy was in the East when I was in the West. We shared Light and even at his younger age, He had it!. We shared the Fire Service. We both got better. When I came out he gave me his Past Masters Apron. He was a solid and squared away dude! He accomplished much in the short time he was in the Fire Service. The brightest stars always burn the brightest, but not for long. He suggested the Annual Square Picture at EDI; something we need to get back to. I will miss my Brother. When he was small he wanted all the fire stuff and he wanted to be the greatest firefighter in the world, said Captain Rathel Morgan, his co-worker and childhood friend. Not only did Magee become a firefighter in May 2001, he led rescue units and dealt with removing hazardous materials. In June he received Mayor Mitch Landrieus Outstanding Employee award after he rescued a crash victim from a burning car while off duty on Interstate 10 near Baton Rouge. Capt. Kevin Williams said he was with Magee that day and later nominated him for the award. His picture was in the lobby of city hall and he said yeah man thanks to you, said Williams. He was just a humble guy. Magees body arrived at Louis Armstrong International airport on Wednesday night (Oct. 29) and was escorted by police and fire department personnel to a funeral home. Magees funeral will be held on Monday from noon until 2 p.m. at Celebration Church at 2001 Airline Drive in Metairie.
