Benjamin’s Journey January 21, 2015 Day 37 As you all know Benjamin’s evaluation was today with Shepherd and unfortunately due to the fact that our health insurance only allows us 30 days at an inpatient facility. With that said, we would need to come up with tens of thousands of dollars up front to pay them for the additional time that he may need beyond the initial 30 days. To say the least, I am bummed but I also understand that we want to make sure that the 30 days that we are allowed by our insurance company that we make the most of them. So bottom line, Benjamin will need to progress a little bit further before we head down to Shepherd, so they will evaluate him again in a few weeks. We appreciated all of your prayers and ask that you continue to pray that Benjamin will be ready by the time they return to evaluate him again. He loved his chicken strips and fries today and even jugged down a full bottle of Gatorade, so he is doing well as it relates to eating. Overall though, he had a difficult day today as he seems frustrated, which could mean that he is understanding more and is frustrated that he is not able to communicate with us yet or maybe he is just really tired of having to stay in bed. Soon Benj, very soon you will be up and running around again and eating us out of house and home. We’d like to thank the PTO of Renaissance High School for helping us with meals those first few weeks at Vanderbilt. We were so grateful, as we struggled to leave the trauma unit those at first and having meals delivered to us at the hospital was such a huge blessing. God’s Got This!
