Bernis and I just saw Exodus: Gods and Kings. If you know the Exodus story at all, be ready to roll your eyes plenty. I dont understand why when filmmakers make a Biblical movie, they dont seem to bother with consulting the source material. Peter Jackson was more faithful to Tolkien than Ridley Scott is to Exodus. I HATE the way God is depicted as a capricious, unreliable, spiteful little boy with who might be a figment of Moses imagination. Moses is depicted as disagreeing and doubtful of God, not obedient and full of faith. Theres a long list of important details they ignored or totally got wrong. Great production values and acting. The sets are amazing. I enjoyed it as entertainment and hopefully it will get conversations about the Bible started. But my eyes are tired from rolling so much.
