Best in Show at the Love Underdogs Show, well done Dax: Dax was found abandoned and injured in a dust bin on the streets of Brasov in Romania, his front fore leg was severely damaged and he had an immediate operation to clean his wounds and remove the unviable 3/4 of his paw. One he arrived in the UK he was terrified and would scream if anybody attempted to approach him, our UK vet discovered that a portion of bone was protruding through the skin under his fur and causing him unimaginable pain. Thankfully Zara Moore was able to look after him at home while he recovered from a second operation and his leg was saved. Unfortunately he suffered an unsuccessful rehoming by an adopter who failed to accommodate his terrified state and abandoned him so that LU had to pick up the pieces for a second time. Rather than return to kennels Mouse (as he was then) came to me as an emergency foster and I adopted him 2 days later!!! Its been a tough few months for Dax to gain the confidence to behave like a normal dog, but he is well on the way to recovery and seems to grow more everyday. He loves his food and chases his tail in excitement when Im preparing his evening meal. He no longer screams when approached by bigger dogs and in fact yesterday he told off a big Labrador who was getting too close for comfort which is a huge stride forward. I love you Dax and it seems many others do too.
