Best upgrade to a Remington 700? Just about every week I received a phone call from someone wanting to rebarrel their Remington 700. When I ask why the answer is almost always in regards to accuracy issues. Now I could say to send it in and we will rebarrel the rifle and that will solve all of the issues, but that would be a lie and unacceptable. The truth is you have to start at the foundation… the stock. There are many options out there and really it comes down to personal preference. I do recommend that you go with a known brand like McMillan, Manners, Accuracy International, Ashbury, etc. If you choose a chassis, then it is a plug and play, but if you choose a fiberglass you will need to have a gunsmith glass pillar bed the barreled action. Replacing your factory plastic or wood stock with a quality fiberglass or chassis should increase your accuracy. From there you should look at triggers, but we will cover that in another article.
