Best wishes for a Happy, Peaceful, and Prosperous, New Year. We are at the peak of an influenza epidemic as you already know. If you have had an influenza vaccine you will be either fully or partially protected from the flu, depending on your exposure to which strain. You can still however get the germ if exposed! Either way symptoms of muscle and bone pains, fever, runny nose, cough, and fatigue should be manageable with rest, fluids, and either acetaminophen (Tylenol etc.) or an NSAID (Aleve, Motrin etc.) If you did NOT get the vaccine and you develop fever over 101 F, trouble breathing, bone pains and the rest of the symptoms call us within 24-36 hours and I can start you on Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) to reduce the symptoms a bit and hopefully shorten the course of the illness as well.
