Better to Have Loved and Lost I got to think about the saying, "It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all". That is kinda like life has been for me. I have tried many different things in my life, not always well, but at least I tried. I am finding now in my declining years that those things I tried were a source of joy for me, a comfort to many friends and family and a source of pleasure for people who have received things I have made with my hands, poems I have written, friendships I have made. So I would just like to say we all, no matter how old we get, be willing to step through a new door in life and try something new. Maybe, it is to paint a picture, knit a blanket, make a toy for a child, do beading, made a hanging macrame, sew clothes for our children and grand kids. Maybe, it is just to sit at the piano and play a song that speaks to our hearts. But, just as it is better to have loved and lost, it is also better to have tried something new in our lives than to come to the end of our days and said, "my I wish I had tried my hand at a skill before it is too late. © Patricia Lawrence
