Bhalla takes stock of damages caused due to overnight rains Asks JMC to gear up men machinery to clear garbage for Nallahs JAMMU, JULY 20: The Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Floriculture, Raman Bhalla today conducted an extensive tour of the city to assess the situation caused due to overnight heavy rains, besides visited to the residence of the victim women who died at Nanak Nagar after rain water entered in her house. The minister visited Nanak Nagar, Jeevan Nagar, Gangyal, Pamposh Colony, Malik Market and Bilal Colony, besides Channi Himant, Channi Rama, Trikuta Nagar, Sai Vihar, Rampura, and other parts of the city and took stock of the water logging problems in these areas caused due to overflowing of deep drains and Nallahs. Deputy Commissioner Jammu, A. K. Sahu, Commissioner JMC, K L Khajuria, Joint Commissioner Kapil, besides senior officers of R&B, UEED, Revenue and other line departments accompanied the minister during the tour. At Nanak Nagar, the Minister handed over Rs 1 Lakh Cheque to the family of the deceased woman under Natural Calamity Relief Fund and assured the members every possible help from the government. Later, the Minister inspected the chocked local Nallah due to which the water overflowed into the residential houses in the area. He directed the JMC commissioner to gear up men and Machinery to clear the Nallah to avoid further inconvenience to the people. The Minister also visited Jeevan Nagar locality to take stock of the water logging problem created due to chocking of the local Nallah. The Minister inspected the lanes and roads damaged due to over flowing of the rain water from the Nallah. He also interacted with the local people and inquired about their problems. The Minister also visited Malik Market, Channi Himmant and Chenni Rama, besides Guru Tej Bhadur Nagar and took stock of the damages caused to the public utilities in these areas. The Minister took serious note of the encroachments along the Nallahs in these areas and asked Civic Authorities to remove the same immediately. He also directed to gear up men and Machinery for clearing garbage and silt form these nallahs to avoid chocking in the future.
