Bhasikiti sues Zanu PF Central Committee member MASVINGO – The Minister for Provincial Affairs for Masvingo Province, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti is suing a Mwenezi Central Committee member who falsely accused him of insulting President Mugabe. Bhasikiti had his papers ready today (23/12/14) for filing at the Masvingo Civil Courts. He is suing Tafadzwa Shumba for defamation of character for $10 000 through his lawyers Chuma and Gurajena. Shumba allegedly told a Provincial Co-ordinating Committee (PCC) at a meeting held on Friday (19/12/14) in Masvingo that Bhasikiti insulted the President. He said that Bhasikiti described the President as old and senile and urged people from Mwenezi not to listen to him. Bhasikiti confronted acting Masvingo Zanu PF provincial chairman Paradzai Chakona over the issue and Chakona told Bhasikiti that these were just allegations raised in a meeting. Chakona added that he would be giving Bhasikiti an opportunity to defend himself once Shumba produces affidavits to prove his case. As a result of that accusation, there has since been statements from the party to the effect that Bhasikiti is fired from Zanu PF. Kossam Chuma who is Bhasikitis lawyer confirmed that papers for the lawsuit were ready to be filed with the courts. When contacted for comment, Bhasikiti told The Mirror that he never uttered such statements hence the lawsuit. He said that instead it is Shumba who is defaming the President by uttering such words. Bhasikiti said he was aware that former Masvingo Provincial Lovemore Matuke was eyeing his post and accused him of machinations to get him deposed.
