Bible study notes John 11:1-57 Life is on course to death. Your life takes a course. Sin is the cause of all death. Lazarus story is about spiritual death and physical death. There is a physical death and theres a spiritual death. Jesus said dont be afraid of the physical death but be afraid of the one that kills your soul. The spiritual death. Jesus came to die to intervene between the two deaths. Between the physical death and spiritual death. Its a great lesson for the disciplines. Spiritual death is separation from God. You are spiritual dead until you are born again. You are risen from the dead when you believe in Jesus. We see something as dead, but God sees them as sleep. God has a different perspective of things. We need to start asking how does God sees this. You dont see things with your eyes but sees things with your spirit. Had they not had the conversation with them we would have not seen God perspective on death. Your not dead when your sleep. When you have everlasting life you are not dead you are sleep until God comes to wake you. Only the body dies but the spirit is eternal. Jesus power goes beyond the grave. Martha and Mary measured God out to the time of death. God can go beyond the line of what you can think and can go beyond what you can ask. The messenger who sent for Jesus was a symbolize of prayer to God. God answers the prayers he wants to answer him. God defines himself the way he wants you to understand him. You cant containment him in a box. Jesus understood that Martha and Mary trusted as believed he was the son of God. They possessed a confidence Jesus and were willing to be led to an outcome that they could not anticipate. This was substance enough for Jesus to perform this extraordinary miracle that no one could have anticipated. Even today, we should simply trust that God working things out on out lives that we can not anticipate. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, which are things we cannot anticipate. This is a powerful story because of the metaphors used. How would you have acted if you seen someone who was dead for 4 days and comes back to life? What do you do the next day? I dont have any questions Im going to go tell everybody. To glorify the power of God. When a miracle is taken place it doesnt look like much. People dont know. You just have to believe. When something like that happens you are changed for life. Thats the change we want to see in the believers of God. You say you are saved and believe in God. What has that done for you? It helps me love, preach, have an inspiration. What has the resurrection done for you? It will have an different effect on you. To see the good works of God. The life of the believer should have a good report. Our lives should be transform by the works of God. -pastor fisher
