BibleEtc June 2,2014 I am committed daily to reading daily from the Old Testament; also from the New; something from the Qur’an; and a hadith. And, I am posting daily comments on Facebook. OT Reading the CEV (Contemporary English Version) in course. Job 34. Elihu says Job has been living among sinners, and has begun to think like them. God treats people as they deserve. It is God who breathes life into people. Elihu tells Job that he should tell God that he is guilty and he will live better. NT now beginning session twelve of the 12 session survey, the origins of Jesus. Revelation 20:1-7. Verses that speak of Satan being locked up for 1,000 years, and those beheaded for their faith to reign for 1,000 years. These verses gave rise to various kinds of millennial doctrines. In my humble opinion, these verses are simply an attempt to give “extra credit” for martyrs of the faith. Qur’an 8:43-48. God will help His people in battle, making the enemy seem few. Satan will lie to people to have them follow him in battle; yet, when the battle begins, Satan leaves the people on their own, and fleas, because he, Satan, fears God. Hadith. Sahih Al-Bukhari. Book 4. Chapter 36. Verse 155. Page 126. The last of several hadith, saying that putting on leather socks makes further ablutions on the feet unnecessary for a day for people at home, and for three days for travelers. Blood sugar 89. Blood pressure before exercise 142/78. My weight has gone down to a new low of 212#. For supper last night, I had a cucumber/ slaw salad. It was filling, and good. Now I am 78# under my gross maximum of 290#, and there still remain 32# of fat and blubber to get my goal of 180#. I have accomplished 71% of goal, with 29% remaining. This is my 162nd day of Royal Canadian Air Force exercises so on the second chart, I am on D. I did ten sit-ups of ten, and need to do likewise six more days to advance to the next level. I did make the homecoming of First Baptist, and was interested, once again, to hear the history of this church whose congregation goes back to 1832. In August 1983, when Addie and I moved to Micanopy, she was the first person to join that church under the pastorship of Frank Phillips. Two of the Baptists have kept up with Addie and have recently visited her, which was a visit she and I appreciate. Today, I take the truck to Walt’s for lube oil and filter. I think also I need to have an alignment. Then, various errands to run and bills to pay. I will have a CD to send to my children and grandchildren of my photos of their visit here.
