Big John WEATHER Summary & Discussion (Issued 3:00 pm Sunday November 24th, 2013) Cold tonight with a FREEZE WARNING. And again, the cold air doesn’t last long. If you are traveling, expect rain and mid 60s on Tuesday, rain and only 60 on Wednesday. Thanksgiving Day will be sunny, breezy and cool in the 50s. Safe travels! Savannah: Tonight – FREEZE WARNING except Georgia Coast. Mostly clear, north winds 5-7 mph, frost coastal areas, low 31 Tomorrow – Partly sunny, NE winds 9-11 mph, hi 56 Dome of Arctic high pressure is moving into the southeast, setting up another very cold night across the area. There will be little cloud cover to help hold up temperatures, and enough mixing to bring the cold air to the surface. How cold? Hampton down to 23, Sylvania 25, Swainsboro at 26 tonight. Statesboro, Springfield and Pooler drop to 27. 28 will be the low tonight in Metter, Claxton and Ridgeland. And Reidsville, Glennville, Baxley, Hardeeville and Pembroke should bottom out at 29. Sun City, Hinesville, Jesup and Vidalia will be below freezing at 30. Richmond Hill, Blackshear, Douglas and Hazelhurst plus the Savannah Airport are forecast to drop to 31. And Beaufort drops to 32. Everybody else will be above freezing, and dealing with frost except right on the beaches. The core of the high slides by quickly Monday as a new low continues to develop along the Gulf Coast tracking along the Coast Tuesday and Wednesday. That’s our “travel” rain with winter as close as the Tennessee/Kentucky State Line. We’ll be watching.
