Big Thanks to Linda Escalante and Tropigas Bmp for inviting BHS to their back to school event. BHS had every intention of having a huge book sale but at 8 a.m. when it was time to pick up the tent, tables, books etc. the rain came bucketing down, thunder and lightning!!! We cancelled the book sale part of it as weve been there, done that in November and lost boxes of books to water damage. We went ahead with the bake sale and had hundreds of DVDs for sale. Of course the sun came out and people showed up to buy books!! So in a mad scramble Dewey, Sonia and Becky hauled out extra tables and two vehicles full of books. All the snacks and cupcakes sold out. We ended up with $353 and even managed to get everything back to the Resource Center before the next rain squall hit! Thank you to our hardy volunteers, Dewey Morison, Becky Gushwa, Sonia Neal, Efrain & Goya Aldana, Melanie Quigley, Graciela, and Sofia Diaz, Yamili Cob, Don Thompson, for setting up, breaking down and working the event. Thank you to Linda Lind, Melanie Quigley, Grace Chun, Claudine Woffard, Linda Escalante, Sally Thackery, Marty Gibson, Yamili Cob and family for donating the drinks, ice, cupcakes, brownies, sandwiches, scones, chips and dip. Not a crumb left.
