Bill, As I listen to mr reckman and mr budgar and monte talk you would think no one knew what was occurring. Below is email to bob flaherty dated oct 9 explaining in brief some of the medical issues I have been dealing with since end of June. To hear Mr reckman state that he reached out to me first and I would not commit belies the fact is that I would not commit because I could not commit. My summer has been doctors appointments, second opinions tests, X-rays, enhanced MRI , to determine exactly what was going on and what would be the best treatment. I have been on standby lists for procedures and had to leave calendar open. I told mr budgar and mr reckman I could not commit to date because I did not know and my medical issues took priority, something neither of these gentleman could accept. During the second opinion phase this summer a mass was discovered near site in my hip. More. Tests were conducted to determine if it was cancer, ..the tests were inconclusive and I had to wait until operation where biopsy was performed. The biopsy was negative. The operation took place last Tuesday and was a total hip replacement of my left hip. The sciaitic pain that I had endured over past five years wasø actually bone spurs preceding the hip issue, I should have probably paid better attention then but I shrugged it off ,moved my wallet to my front pocket and pain did subside. Because of this bone spur issue after operation last Tuesday, on Wed I was transported by ambulance to a radiation treatment facility where they radiated the new hip joint to prevent future bone spur growth. Side effects of this treatment are tissue swelling and fatigue, both of which occurred. I started PT day after operation and except for day I was at radiation treatment, I do PT twice a day. I was released from bay state medical last Friday and began in home PT on Sat and will continue until I regain my strength . I am following my dr.s advise, my PT,s advice and my own common sense on what I can do and can,t do. This is why I will not be at debate on wed. My body feels beat up, its healing from major surgery and radiation treatment and I am under a strict. Pain management program which prevents me from even driving a car. The comments by mr reckman, mr budgar and mr bel monte were inconsiderate, shortsighted and self serving..mr budgar knew I was having hip replacement surgery. The support from the community has been overwhelmingly positive and continues even as I recover, its how I have treated citizens in the past and a desire to have someone like that in our government now that continues to grow my base support.
