Bill Browning, age 71 of Rogersville, TN, passed away after a brief illness on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at his home with his family by his side. He was a former resident of Cumberland, KY. He was born in Hazard, KY on December 22, 1942 to the late Johnny and Mary Ann Combs Browning. Bill was a disabled veteran and had served his country proudly for three years in the United States Army. He was the owner of several businesses, the Big Top Restaurant, Tri City Restaurant, Pet Shop, and the Four Star Video store. He also held auctions where he was the auctioneer and was a real estate agent. He was a member of the Guntown Church of Christ in Rogersville, TN. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, William Alex Browning; and two grandsons, Jonathan Owens and Jamie Owens. Bill was a loving husband, father, and papaw who is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mavis Browning of Rogersville, TN; daughter, Beverly (Jim) Owens of Richmond, KY; son, Billy Brandon (Kristen) Browning of Rogersville, TN; seven grandchildren, Jimmy Owens, Jennifer Wilson, Josh Owens, Brittany Owens, Ethan Browning, Jacob Browning, and Madison Browning; four great grandchildren, Lilly Owens, Jasmine Wilson, Tyler Wilson and Jesslyn Wilson; four siblings, Peggy Clark of Lynch, KY; Phyllis Robinette of London, KY, R.B. (Doris) Browning of Cumberland, KY, and Donna (Jeff) Frankowski of Corbin, KY; special sister-in-law, Linda Sizemore; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 18, 2014, between 5 – 7 pm at the Tri City Funeral Home Chapel, 506 Holly Street, Benham, KY. Funeral services will be held following the visitation at 7 pm with Ministers James Forester and Danny Younker. Interment will be on Friday, December 19, 2014, in the Monte Vista Cemetery at 12 pm with military rites at graveside. Grandchildren, nephews, and friends will serve as pallbearers.
