Bill, I hope you will read this as I have information that I believe will help you in these debates. Islam began in 600AD. This means that, as a religion, they are about 600 years behind Christianity. What were Christians doing 600 years ago? The put to death those who left the faith. They burned people at the stake. They swam a witch, meaning that they tied her up, threw her in a river, If she drowned, she was innocent, if she floated she was a witch. Did this represent all Christians? No. But that vast majority supported this or turned a blind eye. Islam is now acting like Christians did 600 years ago. The true argument is that it is time for Islam to mature. Killing the unfaithful is what an immature religion does. The people you debate want to act like only those who turn a blind eye exist. The truth makes them uncomfortable, so they filter out the atrocities and speak as if only those who have evolved beyond direct killing exist. Yet they will not stand in opposition to it. Where are the Islamic activists speaking out against these atrocities? You are debating those who live in denial of reality. Find a guest who is both Islamic and admits that the atrocities committed in the name of Islam must end. After all, the Bible still advocates extreme violence against non-believers, they the followers of those religions have moved beyond such things. Read first Samuel 15:3 in which God instructs the Israelites to, : Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass This is God advocating genocide. If we Jews and Christians can move beyond such nonsense, so can the Muslims. Drive that point home.
