Billionaires want your school. That pretty much sums it up. K-12 - TopicsExpress

Billionaires want your school. That pretty much sums it up. K-12 education is an untapped $700 billion/year industry that investors just figured out how to tap, with help from the good old federal Department of Education. Bring on the for-profit Charter Management Organizations, run by billionaires. The smaller CMOs will be consolidated with the larger ones, just as has occurred with the other industries cited in the article. The biggest lie in charter school propaganda: admission is equal to that of public schools. Lack of Special Ed services and lack of bus service alone are sufficient to remove the lowest achieving students. Add to that the fact that only engaged parents will go to the trouble of entering their kids in a lottery to go to a different school. Dont forget about the charter agreement parents have to sign, which dictates their and their childs behavior to stay enrolled in the charter. Better not question authority. No going to the publicly elected school board to voice your concerns, either. There isnt one.
