Birthday Gifts, Trains, Chicago, Deep Dish Pizza, Money Museum, Christmas Lights, Christkindlemarket: On Wednesday, Bonnie Smith, Sharon Smith Lara, Thomas Michael Lara, and I celebrated Thomas 10th birthday with a few gifts. A short time later we boarded the West Line in Schaumburg and headed to Chicago. After arriving at Union Station we headed over to Giodanos for some Deep Dish pizza and Beer. On the way to the Daley Plaza we stopped at the Federal Reserve Bank and visited the Money Museum (and yes, we got free samples...all shredded). After walking several different streets to see Christmas store fronts and lighted parks, we arrived at Christkindlemarket at the Daley Plaza. As expected, it was more than packed with people from all over the world. After looking at a few shops, sipping a few mugs of spiced German wine, and a cup of hot chocolate, we snapped a few pictures of Chicagos Official Christmas Tree and walked back to the train station. At Union Station, we met up with Tom Lara, who had just finished wiring a bank building on LaSalle Street, very close to the Federal Reserve Bank. We all hopped onto the train back to Schaumburg. It was a great day for small celebrations, train-rides, sight-seeing, and great food and drinks.
