Bishops lands bill is a wolf is sheeps clothing and nothing more. - TopicsExpress

Bishops lands bill is a wolf is sheeps clothing and nothing more. Senator Bennett tried a similar thing and lost his seat because of it. The bill he did pass was in Washington County and was a total cluster. The lands bill process has ignored the public who are the major stake holders, It has opened the door for back room political deals between special interest, county officials, and state officials to serve their own interests. To prevent it from being taken by Obama they want to give it away which makes no sense and is nothing more than capitulating it away. A National Monument or National Conservation designation will mean rules and regulations that restrict the rights of one individual to benefit others and nothing more. The land is San Juan County Utah has been used by natives Americans and non-native Americans for years. Many of the areas they want to turn into wilderness or have designated have been through Uranium, oil & Gas, and seismograph exploration and drilling through the 50 and 60 at least. The fact is the land is still considered pristine and worth protecting which should indicate that there is no need for more government control over this land. Last August in San Juan County when Congressman Bishop and Congressman Chaffetz came to San Juan County to kick of this initiative they were met by over 200 residents who opposed it. Yet their voice was ignored then and it is still being ignored today. There is only one solution to this problem either claim state rights and jurisdiction or just admit that this is federal land and let the feds have it. thepetroglyph/utah-public-lands-initiative.../
