Bismihita’ala, Al jawabu bi awunil wahhab, To shave the whole - TopicsExpress

Bismihita’ala, Al jawabu bi awunil wahhab, To shave the whole beard or to make it shorter than handful is never allowed in Shariah, rather it is haram as mentioned in different, authentic books of jurisprudents(fiqh) with the reference of ahadithe mutabarah. As for example, in fathul qadeer vol. 2 p. 27, Durre Mukhtar ma’shaami vol. 2 p. 116, Raddul Mukhtar vol.2 p.117, Bahrur Raique vol. 2 p. 280, Tahtawi Ala Maraquil Falah p.411, it is stated as follows, “Wallafzu littahtawi alakhzu minal lihyati wa huwa doona zalik”(Ai biqadril masnoon wa huwa qabzah) kama yafaluhu badul magharibati wa mukhanathur rijaali lam yubahu ahadun wa akhzu kulliha fi’lu yahudil Hind wa majusil a’aajim“. Means; To cut the beard less than hand full is the habit of some western and eneuch people and this is not jaiz anymore (no one said it jaiz) and to shave the whole beard is the way of jews of Hind and fire-worshippers. Imam Ahmad Raza says in his well known book Fattawa Razwiya Vol.3 p. 372 “To shave the whole beard and to cut less than handful is Haram”. Apart from this Rasoolullah Swallallahu Alaihi Wassallam has emphasizingly commanded in the Hadith “Khaaliful mushrikeena aufirulluha waahfush shawarib“. (Bukhari and Muslim) Means; “Oppose the polytheists keeping your beard bigger and the mustache shorter”. Likewise, in the light of Hadith, Hazarat Shah Abdul Haq Muhaddithe Dahalwi says “Halaq kardane lehiya haraam aste wa guzaashtan aan baqadre qabza wajib aste“. Means; “To shave the beard is Haram and to keep it handful wajib”. Some so-called scholars say that to keep handful beard is sunnah not wajib. Such people are quite erronous and their claims are against hadith and fiqh. They put forth teir view that some jurists quoting Hadith have said one handful beard is sunnah. Instead of misguiding the Muslims, such people shoulld understand that sometimes wajib is also called sunnah in the sense that it is proved by sunnah or it is the way of deen-e-mateen. As for example, in every book of Hadith salaatul eidain is mentioned sunnah but every Muslim knows it is wajib. though salaatul eidain is mentioned sunnah, but in fact, it is wajib, likewise, though to keep handful beard is sunnah but it is not sunnah rather it’s wajib. That is why Shaikh Abdul Haq Muhaddithe Dahalwi says in his emminent book Ashiatul lamaat vol.1 p.212 “Wa annke suboote aan basunnat ast chunanke namaaze eid ra sunnat guftahand“. Means; “Whoever has said it (Keeping handful beard) is sunnah they never mean that it is not wajib but they mean the way of deen from the word “Sunnah” or, it is proven by Hadith. So, for the sake of Allah, don’t pay heed to the words of so-called molwis and professers, but follow the sayings and directions of those respectable scholars who were our ancestors, more knowledgeable, they had deep vision in the meaning of aayah and hadith and they were praise-worthy and unrivaled in both ilm and taqwa (islamic knoledge and piety).
