Bittersweet... We may have found a forever home for Gracie. The great news is that its on a property that has a couple of big ponds and the caretakers have chickens and one blind duck that they care for, and feed. They all get to free range during the day, and they built a a really wonderful enclosure complete with a baby pool (for the blind duck) to keep the brood safe at night. The caretakers of the camp are very happy to have her, and will take lovely care of her. My only concern, (other than my heartbreak) is that everybody accepts Gracie or that shes not aggressive towards the chickens or duck--otherwise home she comes for Plan B. Im glad that she had the cat experience to hang out with other creatures. Maybe she will be a really cool companion for the blind duck. Im going to look at this like a duck sleep away camp where she gets very cool amenities. If it works out she can stay. The property is in the Poconos and is a Presbyterian Camp. We think shes Presbyterian since her mama choose the church to nest and give birth--so that should work out pretty well. Lol! So were going up sometime this week – and Ill be the duck version of Jane Goodall (one of my personal heroes) to observe and watch and bring back news of Gracies integration. We can go visit her, and we might. So prayers and good juju for a successful introduction and happily ever after home. We know this is the right thing, but I didnt expect it to be this tough on my heart. I want it to work so much, but not looking forward to the ride home. 😥😥😥
