“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted,” Matthew 5:4. In a world of hurting people Christ continues comforting those that suffer with the burdens of life. Last, time we spoke on those that were “poor in spirit” and how they are perfect candidates for God’s Kingdom. Today, we will take a look at those that “mourn.” It is sometimes hard to understand how people can be blessed through sorrow. However, the Bible teaches that they will be comforted. Just as those that are poor in spirit hunger for something that will fill their emptiness, those that mourn, often seek relief from the God of all comfort. The world in which we live and the events that happen in life are cruel and vicious at times, as this brings sorrow and pain. This can do one of two things to us. We can become harden through these, or they can soften our heart and make them tender before a compassionate God. In the realm of Christianity, everything, even what appears to be evil, happens for a Divine reason and cause a work in our lives to make us a better person in the end, even a painful death. Many times these things are beyond our understanding, however, if we will allow God to comfort us in these times, we will come to understand Him and love Him as nothing else in this world can explain. One constant factor that always exist is the fact that God is Love, and if we allow Him to, he will comfort us during our times of mourning. David said, “Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?” Psalms 57:8. Yes, God does care and remembers our tears of sorrow. Are you hurting today. I may not have the answers, but I know the ONE that can comfort and support you as you endure the toils of life. ““Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” ~This is just a thought.
