Bliss, Idaho - The livery barn, built in the late 1800s and the Trading Post, originally a cook shack for the railroad in 1883, are the oldest buildings still standing. The Bliss Church dates from 1911. The Owens Rooming House burned, the Opera House was dismantled, the Ostrander Lumber Yard moved away, the Wilhoit Hardware is long since gone, and both freight and passenger depots have long since disappeared. The section houses, the Chinese Café, the blacksmith shops and various saloons, as well as the huge black warehouse from the days when Bliss was a thriving shipping point have faded into history. by Lorna Bard from the Gooding County History Book - Roots and Branches - 1989
