Blood Donation Camp at Kangpokpi The Herald Today News | Kaybie Chongloi KANGPOKI, Aug.28: A Blood Donation Camp has been organized here today at Inspection Bungalow (IB) jointly by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kangpokpi; 25 Assam Rifles and JNIMS, Porompat, Imphal. Col. P.S. Arora, Commandant, 25 Assam Rifles and Sahib Singh, Zonal Director, NYK Sangathan, Imphal Zone graced the occasion as Chief Guest and President respectively. Maj. Sanjay Kumar, Post Commander, 25 AR Kangpokpi; Capt. H.N. Singh, Post Commander, Sapormeina; Capt. Kamal, Post Commander, Motbung; S. Gourokishwor Singh, District Youth Coordinator, NYK, Kangpokpi; Dr. K. Surjit, MO i/c, Blood Bank & Transfusion Unit,JNIMS; Dr. T. Hatzaw, Medical Superintendent, Kangpokpi Christian Hospital and Chonkam Kipgen, Chairman, Kangpokpi Town Committee also attended the occasion. More than 100 donors from personnel of 25 AR, students from H.M. Hr. Sec. School, Keithelmanbi and Elite Hr. Sec. School, Kangpokpi as well as youths from the local and within Sadar Hills donated Blood in the Camp. Speaking to the local media person Salam Gourokishwor Singh, District Youth Coordinator, NYK-Kangpokpi said that donating blood is an active way of helping others and the whole of society since transfusions of blood and blood components have become an essential part of healthcare today. He continued that the people who need blood come in all ages and from all ethnic and economic walks of life before adding that you dont need a special reason to give blood; you just need your own reason. “Whatever your reason, the need is constant and your contribution is important for a healthy and reliable blood supply and you will feel good knowing youve helped change a life”, added the DYC, NYK-Kangpokpi. The Blood Donation Camp today is being organized mainly to save mankind particularly the poor and needy people continued Salam Gourokishwor Singh while assuring that NYK, Kangpokpi will continued render the best effort for sufficiency of blood in future too. Dr. K. Surjit, MO i/c, Blood Bank & Transfusion Unit, JNIMS asserted that the blood donated today will be tested for various diseases like HIV, Hepatitis B&C, Syphilis and Malaria and those found positive will be autoclave and discharge accordingly while those found negative will be keep in store after leveling in its own blood group. He continued that blood donors will be given a Donor Card in future and they will have the facility to avail blood without replacement in time of their needs. “The blood I donate gives someone another chance at life. One day that someone may be a close relative, a friend, a loved one—or even you”, a jawan quotes as saying after donating his blood at the camp. A student of H.M. Higher Sec. School, Keithelmanbi stated I came to realize that few minutes of my time and 350 ml. of my blood is equal to one life while adding that I feel like hero today.
