Bob Liero...tear this apart. Dear Mr. XXXXXXX: ; Thank you for contacting me regarding the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2015. I appreciate hearing from you and welcome this opportunity to respond. ; I voted in favor of the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act for FY15 as it passed the House of Representatives 219-206. The bill includes full appropriations legislation and funding for eleven of the twelve annual appropriations bills through the end of Fiscal Year 2015. The twelfth bill, which funds the Department of Homeland Security, is funded under a temporary Continuing Resolution that expires on February 27, 2015. ; This bipartisan agreement contains important conservative policy reforms to rein in federal overreach and provides targeted funding for critical programs. Additionally, this legislation remains consistent with the budget negotiated by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) and spends less than the most conservative budget put forward by Republicans. ; Through this legislation Congress was able to make conservative changes and updates to how, where, and when hard earned taxpayer dollars are spent. This includes provisions like the amendment I offered earlier this year to the Financial Services appropriations bill that slashes the IRS budget by $346 million. Also, we were able to cut $60 million in funding for the overreaching Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and block regulations that would hurt small businesses and destroy jobs. ; Some opponents of this bill claim that it funds the Presidents unconstitutional executive actions; however, this bill does not fund illegal activity - it funds the law as written. If the Presidents executive actions are implemented on February 18, 2015, as planned, he will be misusing funds that were intended for a legal purpose. That is why I also voted in favor of H.R. 5759, the Preventing Executive Overreach on Immigration Act. This bill prohibits the President from exempting or deferring from removal individuals who under the immigration laws are not legally present in the United States. This bill also passed the House of Representatives 232-191. ; Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. While this bill is far from perfect, it makes substantive changes to reduce spending and enact positive reforms. Please do not hesitate to write or call me in the future. ; Sincerely, Bill Huizenga Member of Congress
