Boko Haram renewed violence, deliberately targeted at frightening northern Christian determined to re-elect Jonathan -Asari Leader of Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, has described Boko Haram as a political movement set up to cow Christians in the North against voting for President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general elections. Dokubo, a renowned Ijaw Muslim, weekend in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, at the 4th edition of the South- South Youth Leaders and Elders interactive forum, said the key task of Boko Haram was to ensure it instilled fear in the Christian communities in the northern part of the country, so that they will not come out to queue for President Jonathan during the election. Asari who said President Jonathan has no choice other than to run for a second term, stressed that Boko Haram had nothing to do with Islam. He said: “All they want is political power. Boko Haram has nothing to do with Islam. Boko Haram is a political movement to foist leadership on Nigeria. They want to weaken the northern Christians not to vote for Jonathan in 2015. They are chasing all the Christians in the North from their communities.” He advised President Jonathan to be vigilant, adding that some of those around him were fronts for his political opponents. On his part, Chairman of the interactive session, Professor Kimse Okoko and member of the national confab, said that the structure of the country’s federalism was defective and oppressive, noting that it bled the Niger Delta of its resources, “and left the region with noting to celebrate.” Prof. Okoko noted that there are people bent on sabotaging the good works of President Jonathan, adding that they had chosen to remain blind to his success.”
