Bongobondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is enshrined in the freedom which he won for all the people of Bangladesh, every man,woman & child. He strove to give them not only political freedom, but social & economic freedom, to be enjoyed in their daily lives. He assassination was more then a crime against one man; it was a crime against the nation. HIS Name must live in all the history of the struggle against imperialism, with those of Lenin, Rosa, Luxembourg, Gandhi, Nkrumah, Lumumba,Castro, Allende. His hopes for Bangladesh have not been realised because of the conspiracies of those who killed him & their successors. it is for the new gene in Bangladesh to achieve his aim of a nation which is not only politically independent but which applies that independence to give a full human life to all its citizens. -Lord Brockway ,House of Lords, London. 9 August 1979.
