Bonnie Wright posted: I had the pleasure of working with many famous surgeons while at Mass. General during 1979 - 1985. One was Dr. Hermes Grillo, Chief of Thoracic . Dr. Grillo did the first Tracheal Reconstuction case. Due to stenosis in the trachea from longtime intubation. Another Thoracic surgeon that I worked with was J. Gordon Scannell. He did the first open heart case at MGH in 1955. He told me when I was doing my Cardiac rotation that he and a friend made the first cardiac bypass pump in their garage. It was a pleasure working there and I learned so much! What was your most memorable/noteworthy case?
