Book Review of the Week: Jacques Maritains On the Use of Philosophy: I was pleasantly surprised by Maritains volume. In just three essays and seventy pages, Maritain explores the limits of social science, an argument against relativism, the importance of humility in philosophy, a defense of personalism that Amanda Achtman would enjoy, and concludes with a beautiful reflection on theology and science. Moreover, he tackles the thorny problem of religious freedom without falling into the universal Christian nonsense of the liberal Jesuits. Overall, I give it a solid A-.
