Booking agents and artist managers work on commission. It is not - TopicsExpress

Booking agents and artist managers work on commission. It is not their job to take you from $0 to stardom because $0 times any % is still $0. Yes, once in a while an agent or manager will see something extremely special in an artist that they know they can work with and will invest their time and energy for free in the beginning. However, if you are like most artists, youll need 5 things to attract the attention of these professionals: 1) you are making enough money that you can afford to pay them their percentages without risking your own financial stability; 2) you are prepared mentally, emotionally, physically and talent-wise to move on to higher levels; 3) you put in twice the effort that they do to move your career ahead, 4) you act professionally at all times, and 5) you are teachable. If you have the talent plus all of these other pieces of the puzzle, you wont need to knock on doors to find a reputable agent or manager. They will find you. ~ Vinny Ribas
