Boots is a 3D-4D barrel horse, you always hear about how they could be a 1D with the right rider, and that is the truth with this mare. Weve come to the conclusion that I just dont mesh with her, whereas someone else might bring her to the top. We also think she would make an excellent breakaway horse. Shes been through the poles a couple of times, her first time loping through was a 28. I was at a rodeo and my gelding went lame and so she took his place and did great. She came from Jim Overstreet in Big Timber out of his Roper Oroan Stud. Her sire and siblings are all successful in the arena, qualifying for national high school rodeo finals. She had 120 days with Tom Hansen and hasnt forgotten a thing. She will side step, spin on dime, and do anything you ask. She is as broke as they come and just wants to please. She can get hot at times, is super quick and wants to please, therefore needs an experienced rider. The cons however, she is about 12 years old, grade, and does have a couple blemishes on her legs. Unfortunately she is pigeon toed, but its her feet and not her legs, she has never taken a lame step. She is one tough mare. If you decide you dont want to use her for barrels, put her to work on a ranch. She has huge lungs and can go all day. I have never seen a horse that can go like her, we take her hunting in the mountains and she is up front. Even though shes been hunting, she hasnt had the pleasure to drag anything out.
