Boring For everyone, I care about and love. Boring, but the point comes across is what my high school going daughter said of this piece, and so now I am left hoping this article does brighten up a few lives. My goal with this writing is to inspire you to exercise. I am going to try to do this in a rather atypical manner. With that being said, if you exercise and do it regularly then this writing is not for you. You can stop here and go do something else with your time. If, however, you do not exercise or not regularly enough then please keep reading and for your own sake. You probably know everything there is to know about exercise. The only scientific data I will share is that most of us are likely to suffer and die from either heart related issues or some form of cancer, and lack of regular physical exercise is now shown to be one of the biggest risk factor for them. I would like you to understand two concepts here which compliment each other and can be used in any order. One is to work on becoming an addict. The other is to learn to listen to the exercise needs of your own body. Curious? Confused? Stay with me and read on. Ever wonder why it is next to impossible for a person who exercises regularly year in and year out to stop doing it. For me, it will take the loss of limb or life. But why? The reason is that exercise causes the release of chemicals called endorphins which are the body’s own naturally occurring opiates or in other words our own morphine. These highly addictive endorphins are why we feel good and elated after exercise and sleep better. If you exercise with some regularity and for a while you give yourself a good chance of getting addicted to these endorphins. Trust me in that this is one healthy addiction you want to get hooked on. To listen to the exercise needs of your body is not easy and especially at the beginning. You have to be attentive and appreciative of this opiate addiction or the feeling of well being after exercise. It is then that your body will try talking to you. It will ask you, nudge you and even beg you for more. And you would need to exercise to keep the body supplied with the endorphins it is now addicted to. It will be happy if you comply and not so happy if you do not. This silent and subtle conversation regarding exercise with your body is not easy to strike, but once you get it going the joys are all yours to reap and keep. Overtime this keeps getting better with your body telling you how much to exercise, its preferred routines and when it needs to take a day off. If you can somehow manage to sneak in and stay in this zone of perpetual and self-sustaining spiral of regular physical exercise, you shall be living your best life yet, and I guarantee you that.
