Born Joan Molinsky, Joan Rivers is more than a comedy legend,known mostly for her satirical humor. But Joan was a pioneer for women is television, PERIOD. At a time where women in the entertainment business were still being seen as dumb and beautiful, she was determined to prove herself, making herself an unofficial leader in the feminist movement. All jokes aside, Joan started on Broadway in the 1950s and worked her way up the Hollywood ladder with Late Night TV & stand-up. She became the first female comedian to perform at Carnegie Hall, one of the handful of female stand-up comedians to actually succeed & the first and ONLY woman to host a late night talk show. With countless shows, making the red carpet a thing of interest & coining the term Who are you wearing? She reinvented herself to suit the times. True respect is due. From one artist to another.
