Borrowed from a fellow male ambassador!! I saw a post on here yesterday about a Mom who wanted to work from home and was looking for suggestions. I read something in the comments which gave me great pause – (paraphrasing) “Direct sales is not a legitimate form of income”. I have a master’s degree in business, I’m a Desert Storm Vet, and have worked in private and public institutions, and also in direct sales. I currently work in McKinney in the Telecom Industry. I have to strongly disagree with that statement and mindset. IF you feel that battling rush-hour traffic, wasting gas, having strangers watch your kids, working for a boss who (most of the time) doesn’t have you and your family’s best interests in mind (and can fire you at any time with no reason), and trading all of this and your time for $9 to $15 dollars an hour is “legitimate”, then you should really rethink what you are giving up to feel “safe”. Legitimate direct selling companies contribute to a vibrant economy by selling competitive, high-quality products and services and providing a sustainable source of income for those who choose to sell those products. The key word here is “choose”. Ultimately you have a choice to work or not. I strongly feel that the road to the $9 an hour job is just easier. There’s less work involved and you don’t have to think about much. So please don’t discount millions of Americans who thought outside the box, worked their tails off, and created financial freedom for themselves and their families by saying what they did wasn’t legitimate.
