Both M&S and John Lewis Christmas ads were over 2 minutes long, and cost millions of pounds to produce. Whilst most big advertises are following suit, and producing high quality, lengthy, and heartwarming ads, Asda has gone for a relatively cheap 30 second competitor comparison ad this Christmas. Asda have said they have intentionally created a no gimmicks media plan this year, so that they can invest those savings into lowering prices.
