Only agents can advertise, on a 12 month contract. I can do buyer’s agent work, or act as a selling agent for others. Only needed the site for sellers. What other advertiser can force you to pay for ads if they dont run? Asked for a better deal in my circumstances, it fell on deaf ears. With trepidation did not renew, deciding on domain and others only. Asked ACCC if abuse of market power to sell to agents at high prices, while private sellers can’t advertise. They said it’s their prerogative who they sell to. Good agents, not all are bad, transact better than private sellers with no experience. Yet it should be a seller’s choice to make, not dictated by a strategy to use agents, who then use fear marketing to tell sellers they wont get on the site unless they list and wont get highest sale price, so the site in turn gets higher advertising fees than it otherwise would. Recently prices went so high, many agents have decided not to renew. A friend in national top 10 at one of big franchises told me today he didnt renew for first time, others in VIC & NSW are not either, yet still stuck in the contracts. Feel vindicated, as am not. Got a warm wave of schadenfreude, when this came up today (still search on it, domain & others);
