Both dim able compact fluorescent and LED have lower limit limitations during dimming by compatible dimmers. The LED and compact fluorescent bulbs will not dim in the lower levels to totally darkness, because of electricity left in their fluorescent ballast or transistor driver circuit. Halogen is a different variation of the Edison incandescent lamp.
