Boys will be boys.......especially curious and playful curly horse boys! So, the horses dont usually spend the night in the barn, unless the weather is like what we had last night - frigid rain and cold temps where they get soaking wet. -20 and snow would be better. Sure they would survive it fine, just cant stand the thoughts of them out in that yucky stuff! Anyway, about to go and let them out and here a bit of banging around. No big concerns- they start getting a bit restless in the mornings to get out and throw empty water troughs off, paw hay troughs, etc, so I wasnt too concerned. But heard a bit more banging and thought I should check it out. So, this is what I find when I go in. Tankala standing calmly 1/2 way through one of the stall windows. They had managed to unlatch and open one of the stall doors and looks like they were having a wild party down there. What he was doing to get in this spot, well never know. Luckily, he is a tall boy, so able to stand on either side, although a bit pinched in his groin for a bit! So glad for these calm curly horses - many would have freaked out. I put the mounting steps behind him, put one of his hind feet on it and he was able to scramble on through. Thankfully he seems just fine - just a small scrape of hair missing on one leg as he went over.
