Brandon Thibodeaux - ‘When Morning Comes’ Newspace Center for Photography, Portland 07.06.2013 - 30.06.2013 Brandon Thibodeaux’s series, When Morning Comes is a reflection of life in the Mississippi Delta. Thibodeaux first visited and photographed the area in the summer of 2009 while on a journey to deal with his own personal issues and find a sense of place. He sought peace through attending church, listening, and praying for a revelation. Over the course of multiple return trips and three years he witnessed “signs of strength against struggle, humility against pride and a promise for deliverance” in the lives of those who live in a land stigmatized by poverty beneath a long shadow of racism. Thibodeaux photographed in five communities with names like Alligator and Bo Bo as well as the country’s oldest completely African American city, Mound Bayou. photoexhibitions.org/photoexhibitions/blog/brandon-thibodeaux-portland/
