Breaking News Coverage- reminder. Breaking news will be covered. Period. Breaking news includes events that are dramatic and raise concerns or that the public need to know about, like an incident that shuts down a road, or an incident observed by many readers who ask us what is happening. Often with such news we only know what an official says, what a police scanner report says, or what an eyewitness says. As the story unfolds, we get more information and sometimes even an initial official report is revised. Covering breaking news is a standard news practice. Some people always complain about us covering breaking news. If you do not like breaking news, then you do not have to read it. But we will always cover breaking news, knowing full well that by its very nature it often requires ongoing efforts to verify and clarify things because first reports can be incomplete and inaccurate.
