Breaking news via The Humane Society of the United States - Animal Protection Litigation program: A federal court has dismissed a challenge to California’s pioneering farm animal welfare law, clearing the way for full implementation of Prop 2 and AB 1437, which bans the sale of eggs into California that comes from hens severely confined in battery cages. The federal court ruled in HSUS’s favor and denied standing to sue to five states and one governor – all from states with powerful agribusiness lobbies. This is a tremendously significant victory, with Prop 2 and AB 1437 taking effect in less than three months (on New Year’s Day, 2015). More details on this tremendous win on today’s blog.
