Breaking up is hard. Heres - TopicsExpress

Breaking up is hard. Heres some advice to Help heal a heartache A FEW days ago you never thought Youd lock yourself in your room all day, crying and pining. A few days ago you thought it was love;the real thing. Perhaps the two of you shared the same feeling, but you dont now,and youve just been dumped. Its as though youve been dropped into a cold dark hole. Alone. Life is no longer fun. No one can understand your pain. No one. But youre wrong. Weve all been there. Its a given with relationships-not all of them are going to have a fairy tale ending. And even in the happiest relationships there will be pain. Thats given too. WHEN WILL THE PAIN STOP? How soon the pain subsides depends on you. Mourning a lost love is normal and healthy. Any loss requires a period of qrieving. But how long and in what manner a person mourns also depends on each of us. Some people appear to recover almost effortlessly after a break-up-just look at One Directions Harry Styles Who seemed just fine days after dumping Taylor Swift while others take an excruciatingly longtime to get their lives back on track. The time it takes to recover doesnt show how much or little you or your ex cared. Wallowing in self-pity and playing the blame game shouldnt become an olympic event. Instead, allow yourself time to reflect then stop thinking about what you could done to keep the two of you together. Some relationships just wont work. HOLDING ON TO HOPE Its normal to hold on to the hope that your ex will return, begging for forgiveness and apologising for their stupidity for ever letting you ago. While this fantasy is part of the healing process, you cant keep the flame burning eternally. Whether your ex returns depends on the nature of the break-up and that persons previous history. If phone calls are brief and impersonal or messages not returned, take the hint. Give them space. If they want to get back into your life, theyll make a move. Only then should you respond. Perhaps by that time youll have moved on and wont be keen to renew the relationship. It could happen...
