BreakingNews: #APC FRACTURES IN IMO# The Imo State chapter of the newly registered APC is currently embroiled in a leadership crisis following the appointment of a ‘coordinator’ for the party by Gov. Okorocha. Okorocha, who formally announced his exit from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) over the weekend, had also appointed former Democratic Peoples Party’s chairman, Romanus Egbuladike, as the State Coordinator of APC This development has aroused the ire of other leaders of the party, who have accused the governor of failing to consult with them before making the appointment. At the Ahiajioku Convention Centre, Owerri, during a breakfast meeting with APC party members, over the weekend, Okorocha announced the lowering of APGA flag and collapse of its structure into APC in the state. He also used the opportunity to present the APC’s manifesto to them. Mike Ahamba, a chieftain of the APC in the state, criticised the governor’s handling of the situation; adding that not all party leaders were carried along by Okorocha. “I am not part of it and whatever he (Okorocha) announced will not stand,” he said. “If we want to choose a coordinator for the party, will it be at Ahiajioku Centre? I am not aware of this development, and all the legacy parties are also not aware.” Prominent members of APGA in the state have also dismissed the governor’s assertions that the party has merged with the APC. Martin Agbaso, a former governorship aspirant and leader of the party in the state, said APGA cannot be collapsed. “The governor cannot collapse APGA into APC,” he said. “It cannot happen. It is impossible because the party does not belong to him. It is sheer deceit for him to say he has collapsed APGA into APC.”
